About us

Since Vulcan was founded in 1995, we have become Australasia’s highest performing metals distributor and processor. From an ambitious start-up, to one of New Zealand’s largest privately held businesses, to our successful listing on the ASX and NZX – our sustained growth can be attributed to our superior service and dedication to continuous improvement across every facet of our business – and this always starts with people.

“Our goal is to be the best practice industrial distributor –
that's how we benchmark ourselves.”

We work a little differently

We may be big, but we aren’t corporate. Since inception we’ve operated a flat structure model, devoid of “managers” and hierarchy. It’s based on the belief that everyone is equally as important to our success therefore should be an active decision maker and empowered with complete responsibility and autonomy within their role. We’ve found that this mentality keeps our business agile, efficient and effective and our employees feeling trusted, valued and fulfilled.

Who we are

We’re a growing bunch of relaxed yet professional, ambitious yet open-minded people who enjoy what we do. We have a ‘team first but respect the individual’ mentality where we feel valued, listened to, appreciated and understood. We aren’t afraid to step off the beaten path to find better ways of doing things and always seek excellence over average.  We enjoy the autonomy and responsibility that comes with our roles, while knowing that any support we need, will be provided. We’re humble, honest, loyal and enjoy a good laugh.

Dedicated to development

We are passionate about our people and supporting them to reach their full potential. We believe an integral part of ensuring our people feel happy and fulfilled is actively understanding their career aspirations and how we can help them get there. With endless opportunities for growth, we’re dedicated to investing in our people and supporting their success.

Flexible,enjoyableworkplaces

Our ethos is that flexible, relaxed, enjoyable workplaces make for happy people. We believe in supporting flexibility wherever possible to ensure our jobs enhance, not hinder, our lives.

Healthy,happypeople

We care about our people. Our health and wellness programme is available to all our employees to support them in feeling happy and healthy, so they can continue to show up as the best versions of themselves.

A bettertomorrow

We’re dedicated to ensuring a better tomorrow. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we’re actively working to minimise our negative impacts and maximise the positive impacts that we have on our environment.
